Things you need to know

This is a guide to Camper Van Hire with us, It's not supposed to scare you off and is very similar to all other hire companies but its best to know exactly whats what.

We think we have covered everything but please email us should you have any further questions or our full Terms and conditions can be found by clicking on this button.

Hire Periods. Our change over days are any weekday, we do not offer collections on weekends. Our minimum hire period is 3 days with the exception of High Season (July and August) where 7 nights is the minimum hire period.

Collection & Return. Our Camper collection times are between 2pm and 4pm on the first day of your hire. On arrival we will go through the final paperwork and give you full demonstration of the camper, its controls and its features, please allow up to an hour for this process. Our Camper return times are between 9.15am and 10.30am on the last day of your hire. On your return we will carry out a full vehicle inspection with you and complete the relevant off hire paperwork. It is vital that you arrive back to our base on time as the insurance may not cover you outside of the hire period, If you are unavoidably running late please keep us informed so we can do the relevant paperwork and keep you legal, there is a £35 per hour charge for this.

Payments & Deposits. A deposit payment of £150 (non refundable booking fee) must be paid at the time of making the booking, this will hold your chosen camper for the dates selected. This can be done by bank transfer, card payment or cheque, details will be emailed to you with the booking form. If your hire period is less than 6 weeks in advance then full payment will need to be made in full including any extras at the time of booking.

The final balance due for hire and all Optional Extras needs to be made at least 6 weeks (42 days) before the hire commencement, we will send you an email highlighting the amount due a few days before to remind you.

A Security Deposit of £750 must also be paid 1 week before the hire commencement if paying by a bank transfer or if you wish to do a pre-authorised payment using a credit/debit card we can do that on the morning that you collect your hire camper. This covers any damage to the campers interior, insurance excess, driving fines or penalties and any cleaning surcharges. As long as the camper is returned from hire undamaged and clean your security deposit will be returned to you within 7 working days. For a full description of this please refer to our Terms and Conditions page.

Cancellation. If you should need to cancel your hire booking the following applies. Cancellations between the time of confirmed reservation and 6 Weeks (42 days) before the rental period will forfeit the full £150 deposit. Cancellations between 6 weeks (42 days) and 7 days of start of the rental period 50% of the hire charges will be returned. For cancellations less than 7 days before the hire period commences 100% of the hire charges will be forfeited. However should we be able to re-hire the camper to cover the canceled period we will refund you accordingly less the £150 booking fee. We do recommend that you take out a private holiday insurance policy to cover you for any cancellationsShould you wish to move your booking to another date please contact us and we will see what we can do.

Distance. We have a 150 miles per day mileage policy, this is averaged out over the hire period so  with a 7 day hire you will have 1050 miles included. Any   excess mileage will be charged at £15 per 100 miles. Our campers are not permitted to leave the UK mainland under any circumstances unless you have taken out out Euro Travel package and paid the extra charge.

Insurance. Our insurance cover is provided within the hire charge and is fully comprehensive, there is a policy excess of £750 so in the event of any accident or damage to the camper the hirer will be liable for the first £750. Items not covered by the policy are as follows damaged windscreens, tyres, engine following damage or any parts of the camping interior or cab area. We do not provide cover for any personal items so it is the responsibility of the Hirer to provide their own insurance to cover personal effects, we would recommend travel/holiday insurance is purchased from a reputable company.  Late return of the vehicle will invalidate the hirer’s insurance and will be an offence under the Road Traffic Act.

Age. Our insurance policy allows us to hire our campers to people aged between 25 - 70.

Points on Licence. We can allow 1 minor speeding offences or similar within our insurance, we may still be able to hire to drivers with more points on their license although our insurers will apply an extra cost to you. Please contact us with details for us to get a costing for you.

Identification. We will require a copy of both parts of your UK driving license and a recent household bill in your name that has the same address as your driving license. We will also require a DVLA licence check code 1 week before your hire commences, this is a simple online process and details of how to obtain your code will be sent to you once the hire has been confirmed.

Non UK License Holders We welcome hirers from other shores, please contact us with your details for us to pass on to our insurance company for them to quote for a Non UK Licence holder.

Breakdowns. In the very unlikely event that one of our campers suffers a breakdown we have Roadside Assistance and details will be found in the glovebox on how to contact the relevant company for that vehicle.

Pets. Some of our hire camper vans do allow you to bring one well behaved dog with you and there is a small extra £25 charge for this. We do not provide any provision or equipment for animal transport, it is your responsibility to ensure your pet is suitably restrained and cared for during the hire period. We also ask for all pets to be kept off the seats and beds at all times and that no pet will be left unaccompanied at any time in the camper van.

Smoking. All Nene Valley Campervans are strictly no smoking, this also applies to electric type smoking aids (vaping). Should any camper be found to have been smoked in then a £200 cleaning charge will be taken from the deposit.

Bicycles. You are welcome to bring your cycles with you however there would be no room for them inside the camper. We do have a purpose made rack that can hold up to 4 bikes.
